David Chittim to Return as Council President

Featured, Politics

LEWISTON- In a unanimous vote, David Chittim has been selected by his peers to serve as Council President.

Chittim, first elected to the City Council in 2023, has held the position of President for the past year. He will now retain it until at least January 4th of 2027.

Speaking to his fellow Councilors prior to the vote, Chittim said that he “would welcome the opportunity to continue in service to the Council for the next year.”

Serving as Council President “has not always been an easy job,” he said. “I believe I have done so with integrity and professionalism.”

Councilor Joshua Nagine concurred that Chittim has “done it with integrity.”

Saying that he spoke with Chittim prior to the meeting, Nagine expressed that he was hoping some changes could be made going into the new term.

Nagine noted that the appearance of transparency was sometimes an issue, and suggested trying new methods to be more accessible to the public. Nagine said that he wanted to see more “feedback and accountability in the form of the public eye.”

Chittim nodded in response to Nagine’s feedback.

A retired engineer and land surveyor, Chittim represents Ward Six on the Council.
