Jackson-Charles Debate Moved to Hilton in Auburn

Featured, Politics

AUBURN- Gubernatorial candidates Troy Jackson and Bobby Charles are set to debate at the Hilton Garden Inn Auburn Riverwatch on Wednesday, February 25th.

The event will start at 6:30pm and is not open to the public. It will be livestreamed by at least one of the campaigns.

Jackson (a Democrat) challenged Charles (a Republican) to the debate earlier this month. Charles accepted the invitation shortly thereafter.

The debate was initially proposed to be held at the Franco Center in Lewiston.

On February 14th, Charles announced via Facebook that his team had come to terms with Jackson’s on the debate.

In a press release issued Monday, the Jackson campaign announced debate details, including the location change, as well as that the moderators will be Andy O’Brien and Carroll Conley.

A release from Charles’ campaign confirmed those details.

Topics will include law enforcement, crime, drugs, immigration, ICE enforcement, and government corruption.

The Jackson press release claims that “the event is not open to the public at the insistence of Charles.”
