This week, the Lewiston School Committee and Lewiston City Council will each hold meetings to discuss a variety of topics. Here’s what to expect.
Lewiston School Committee Meeting
Monday, November 17th at 5:30 pm

The School Committee will meet Monday night with a short agenda.
Up for approval are three field trip requests. Two are to Boston, and the other is to Southern Italy.
The Committee will also receive an update on the Schools Revolving Funds, as well as an update on the Transportation Request for Proposal.
Next, the Committee will discuss a handful of policies related to school volunteers, use of physical restraints/seclusion, and evaluation of student achievement.
After updates from members, the Committee will hold a series of executive sessions (which are closed to the general public) to discuss personnel matters, negotiations, and a legal matter.

Lewiston City Council Workshop and Meeting
Tuesday, November 18th at 6:00 pm (Meeting starts at 7:00pm)

The City Council will meet Tuesday night starting at 6:00 for a workshop about the Casco Bay Trails Program.
Following will be two executive sessions to discuss economic development issues.
The meeting will start at 7:00. First up will be a recognition of the Bates College Women’s Field Hockey Team, who recently won their first-ever NESCAC title.
Councilors will vote on a handful of items, notably the final passage of its Syringe Service Program ordinance.
They will also vote on requesting a special election to fill the vacant State House District 94 seat.
A condemnation hearing will take place for the building at 102 Pierce Street.
Up for consideration will be removing certain parking spaces on a portion of Ash Street to reduce crime on a particular stretch of that street.
Councilors will vote on clarifying that parking garages are free of charge for the first two hours.
There will be discussions regarding hiring/funding a community health manager, and about potential changes to the City Charter.
The meeting will end with reports, updates, and any other business Councilors or staff may have.
