LEWISTON- Former Ward Five School Committee member Lynnea Hawkins has been chosen to fill a vacancy on the School Committee.
Hawkins, a school bus driver, previously held the seat from 2020-2022. She won her seat in a contested election, but chose not to seek re-election when her term ended.
According to the City Charter, School Committee vacancies are filled by nomination from the Mayor, with a vote of confirmation from the City Council.
Mayor Carl Sheline nominated Hawkins for the Ward Five vacancy, and the Council gave their approval during their January 20th meeting.
Hawkins was sworn in by the City Clerk on Wednesday evening.
