Stack It Forward Program Accepting Nominations

Featured

MINOT- Shae Stacks Wood has opened nominations for its 2026 Stack It Forward program.

The winner will receive free wood, kindling, and firestarters. The wood will also be stacked, free of charge. The whole package is valued at $800.

Shae Stacks Wood is a local wood stacking business with a seasonal kindling delivery service in Androscoggin County. It is operated by Shae Long, a resident of Minot.

Androscoggin County does not have a wood bank, something that pushed Long to start the program.

“I hope to one day explore a wood bank in our community, but in the short term, I realized I can make a difference now,” Long said to Millbrick via email.

Long’s program is being supported by two local businesses.

“The Stack It Forward program began with the help of our two sponsors, Lowell and Son Construction and Mountain View Vintage, who generously donated to the cause,” said Long.

Lowell and Son Construction, located out of Buckfield, has donated two cords of green wood to the giveaway.

Mountain View Vintage, a presence at Main on Main Flea Market in Lewiston, has donated two 35-pound bags of dried pine kindling and two 10-packs of Maine-made firestarters.

“While we are only able to help one person in our community this year, my hope is this will expand to help more people in 2027,” Long said.

Citing her own family’s wood stove and her longtime career as a social worker, Long noted that many families depend on firewood to keep themselves warm.

Long’s business has been successful, and she was sure to give praise to those who helped put her in a position to start such a program.

“I have only been successful in expanding Shae Stacks Wood with the help of others including Duke’s Mill in Greene and Learned Tree Service in Poland.”

Nominations for Stack It Forward are open until June 1st, and a winner will be announced by June 15th.
